Wolves Eat Well: 1941 Continuation War Immersion Event

Cortland, New York

Are you tired of farby reenactors, or setting up camp next to Funnel Cake stands? How about the fact that every WWII reenactment is the same thing, with only US and German reenactors? Want to help change that?

“Wolves Eat Well” is a full-immersion Continuation War tactical event hosted by Infantry Regiment 30 (Finland) and The 44th Rifle Division (USSR) on 250 acres of private land in Cortland, New York

The scenario begins after the heavy fighting in the Gora Sector of Finland, December 1941. The war torn and tired JR30 and 114th Rifle Division marched to the Barani sector and scrambled to set up fortified defense positions there as the Finnish winter set in.

This event will focus on establishing defensive positions, drilling on small unit tactics, organizing and executing scouting parties, and experiencing, to the highest degree of authenticity, the camp life of Finnish and Soviet Soldiers in winter of 1941. Each camp will experience such activities as cooking, drilling, building defenses, scouting, sentry duty, processing prisoners, and much more!

This is an opportunity to recreate, as closely as possible, an incredibly interesting period of history that is not often covered. If you’re tired of mindless powder burner events, farby battles, low standards of authenticity, and more of the same; register for this event and help kick off an authentic Eastern Front scene in the United States!

Soviet and Finnish camps will be set up without either side having knowledge of the others’ whereabouts. Participants are encouraged to track and locate enemy camps,  gather intelligence, set up choke points for ambushes, and capture enemy troops as prisoners.

This event will not feature the firing of blanks rounds. Instead, our focus will be on reconnaissance, intel gathering, and camp life. Although a healthy bit of hand to hand with approved weapons is fine!

Registration opens January 1st, and the fee will be $20. Every registration gets you access into the Homeville Museum of Military History, and all proceeds go towards Clear Path for Veterans, a non-profit organization Chittenango, New York that assists veterans and their families.
