Breaking Through the Hindenburg Line

Public Hosted by I.R.79 Great War Unit public page WWI Texas

Nov 22 at 7 PM Nov 24 at 10 AM

Terrell, Texas

This upcoming event is based around the breaking through of the Hindenburg line, specifically the Battle of the St. Quentin Canal (29 September - 2 October 1918) which was an attack launched on 29 September by US, French and British forces. A north-south stretch of this canal between St. Quentin and Vendhuille had been incorporated into the German defences of the Hindenburg Line. The German defences on the canal comprised not only barbed wire entanglements and traps, but generally this stretch of canal was in a deep cutting of about 50 to 80 metres. Though we do not have a canal we have a lake below the cliff like drop off which will simulate this. There were be 3 sectors for allies, American, British, and French. The Germans will attempt to hold back the allies from taking this vital defensive position. The event will kick off on Friday night and run into Sunday morning, with action concluding Saturday night. We will have a field kitchen on site with several meals being provided. Details for that will come later along with authenticity standards and event guidelines. If you have any questions feel free to contact myself or anyone else on the page.
