15-17 July 2016 Operation Pacific A WW II PTO Tactical Camp Siman Tiff MO

Camp Siman Events, 10135 Oakland, Tiff, MO 63674

www.eventbrite.com

15-17 July 2016, Operation Pacific, A WW II PTO Tactical, Camp Siman, Tiff, MO

Operation pacific will encompass all nations who had their military in the field from 19311945. From the invasion of Manchuria in 1931 to the dropping of the Bomb and the assault from the Soviet Union and the surrender in Tokyo Bay on the USS Missouri in 1945.

Why such a stretch in time and so many Nations. PTO tacticals are few in fact other than a small public battle at Rockford IL there are none in the Mid-West. Camp Siman Events would like to start an Annual PTO Tactical in midsummer a time when there are few events happening.
If this event should take off, we will tighten up the time period and the participating Nations.

Authenticity will be enforced for all impressions. You may have to provide proof of accuracy if you are doing a more obscure impression. Due to the lack of Japanese impressions we will allow a lot of room for interpretation and effort.

We will list some vendors who have IJA uniforms and equipment for sale. Contact us for more information and guidelines.
Since the closing of the PTO in Paris Illinois and Sheridan Arkansas this will be the first one in the Midwest in many years and we would like for all to come out and have a good time.

Authenticity Regulations for Operation Pacific

As at all Historical Reenactments authenticity, next to safety and having a good time is the most important aspect of the event.  For Operation Pacific we expect that each person hold as high a standard as possible, however we do recognize the fact that very few have a Japanese impression thus we will give a big E for effort.
US and Allied impressions
NO excuses for not being spot on.  U S Army and Marine Corps impressions will be accurate.  Army and Marine Corps camo, one and two piece and the HBT uniform with the correct gear.  Australian and other British Empire impressions must be correct.  Other more obscure impressions of the Pacific campaign may have to prove authenticity.
Imperial Japan
We will work with you.  First off, you can almost put a complete impression together for under $300.  Get your ammo pouches and belt from IMA:  http://www.ima-usa.com/nation/japanese-militaria.html  for $60, get your uniform, excellent quality from Hiki Militaria: http://www.hikishop.com/army-uniform-c-3_13_30.html  for around $130 then add a hat or helmet, canteen and bread bag.
You cant afford $300 but your inner ninja still wants to come out and play, then try this.
If you do not have a Japanese Arisaka rifle, use any WW II bolt action from any nation.  The Japanese did not have sub-guns.  Any tripod mounted machine gun is welcome.
Japanese shoes were either rough out or smooth finished boots with hob nails some with cap toes.  I will use my GI service shoe. Yes Im doing Jap.
Puttee:  To add to the look, a puttee should be used.  However the Japanese did wear straight leg paints.   If you do WW I use those, or if you have an old GI wool blanket, cut it into a 3.5 inch wide strip down the long length of the blanket and add a couple of ties.
If you do Russian or have an Eastern European cold war era helmet, take some kaki cotton cloth and make a helmet cover and add a yellow star which should be about the size of a quarter.
Canteen
Any British or Commonwealth or Vietnam era VC or NVA canteen can be used.   It should be on a shoulder strap and closed with a cork.
Uniform
We will allow Dickies Japs.  The Dickies kaki work uniform, @ $40 will work.   Long or short sleeve.  It would be nice if it were modified.  Cut the tail off of the shirt and make a straight hem with a split on both sides then take the extra cloth and make a shoulder like epilate to be placed on the left side of the shirt just above the waist with the button at the top and wide enough to support the leather ammo belt.  Change the buttons to a gold or brass colored about the size of a dime, you can also use pea green plastic buttons or dark brown wooden ones.  Add a piece of dark red felt .5 by 1.5 inches to each collar for rank; add one or two gold stars if you want.   Or just wear the work clothes as is but a little effort would be nice.
Soviet impressions:
If you would like to attend, you will be used as Jap.  Please make some effort to make the following changes to your uniform and kit.  NO jack boots use the above mentioned items with puttee.  Make the helmet cover and NO red star.  Your kit is good as is.  NO sub guns, bolt action only.  Wear your tan, pea green or kaki uniform. Canteen and bread bag good.
We hope to make this an annual event and we hope that more will think about doing Jap so that in the future this event will grow.
