13 December 2014, Soldiers Christmas, Fort Mott, Pennsville, NJ

Our sixth Annual event continues in 2014 at Fort Mott!

December 13th, 2014,
Historic Fort Mott
Pennsville, NJ

Soldiers Christmas is a historical encampment, featuring re-enactors, and their equipment, from every American conflict, spanning from the French and Indian War to the Vietnam War, including some fantastic homefront displays.
The public is brought through each era, and is shown / told (or made a part of each era) what it was like to celebrate Christmas / the holidays during each period of history. Interaction with the public, drawing them into your camp or display is part of the show.

Fort Mott Volunteers will lead the public in lantern tours through each camp starting at 5 pm, the last tour group departing the museum at 9pm.

This is a great last unit get together before the holidays, and has been a real fun for the participants (except last year’s rain storm, that was no fun).

We have seen some interactive and creative displays which have included: welcome to A company…on the front lines in 1944, a Polish couples home front display, a German POW camp, complete with a hidden radio and forged papers, a German units celebration before shipping off to the Russian Front, and even a new group of GI's from the repo depot (aka the public) showing up as replacements at the front in Korea – they will be given instructions and tour around their snowy campfire!

During the day, participating units are encouraged to set up their camps and participate in the Wreaths across America ceremony at the cemetery a short march from the site at Finns Point cemetery.

We have some new spaces in the battery available, where you will be out of the “weather” so please contact us to register yourself or your unit / living history group. Units can begin setting up Friday night or Saturday am, and if you would like to head out, can do so after the event closes on Saturday night, or stay for a refreshment and sing along with our band!

All are welcomed to attend / salute the vets at the wreaths across America service at NOON on Dec 13th(form up at 11 to head down) at Finns Point Cemetery.

Contact us at www.9thdivision.com to register and get involved in this fun and entertaining Christmas event!
