The first episode of HBO's new mini-series "The Pacific" priemered last night.  If you haven't heard this is another 10 part mini-series like Band of Brothers except this focuses on Marines in the Pacific.  It starts off stateside right after Pearl Harbor and then goes to Guadalcanal.  If you are like me and don't have HBO you can also watch it on their website, but you have to register on their website which is free.

Here is a direct link to the show.

I finally got the series for Christmas last year and have watched it twice. What do you all think?
I feel it was very hard to follow the different people in the movie. Sledge was the best story but they dropped the ball and made up alot of stuff on him. They didn't follow, With the Old Breed " as they should have. Sledge was in the reserve not a rich kid with has daddy being like that.
The BIGGEST Mistake in this Pacific show and most modern WW II movies is th US Navy!! Hollywood always rusts the hell out of the ships and landing craft.( Saving Private Ryan also) In the 1940's this was totally new equipment and was well cared for everyday! The ship was always painted as to the landing craft not some freaking rust bucket in the mothball fleet. If they are using museum ships please spend a few bucks and paint the ship.
Come on Hanks and crew get it right-
