31  Events List: North American Theater of Operations / WW II Ostfront Events / Re: 18-21 July 2019, Rostov on Don: a 1942 immersion tactical, Big Lake, MN on: January 12, 2019, 08:30:23 PM
With the success and positive feedback from 2018's Kursk themed event, we've decided to host another event in July of 2019. This event will again be Eastern Front, with the theme revolving around the fighting to the west of Rostov on Don in 1942. Accepted impressions this year will include Red Army, Heer, and Italian. We do encourage people with correct vehicles for the time period to contact us if they're interested in bringing them out (no lend lease vehicles, or any that weren't used in 1942). We will again not be allowing Partisans, and this year we will not be allowing SS. Expect uniform guidelines to be updated shortly for each faction. This is an immersion event and material culture will be meticulously enforced. Those who arrive incompliant will be asked to remove incorrect items, change them out, or not enter the field if they cannot be corrected onsite. The event will begin at 8am Friday morning and end at 8am on Sunday morning. All particpants must clear the field by 10am on sunday. Thursday afternoon will serve as an open improvement day where anyone can arrive and freely help clear undergrowth, fix structures, ect. Event fee will be $25 preregistration to help cover greater event costs this year. Onsite registration will be $30. Feel free to visit our facebook event page to post any questions!

This is a full-immersion WWII reenactment, for those in the hobby that want something more than your basic Public event or tactical.
Our main focus is on the often overlooked, daily monotonous routine of life at the front. Living day to day, in the trenches, resupply missions, bringing food, water, ammo to forward positions and relieving squads, digging new positions, setting up communications with forward positions, ration cooking, etc.
But make no mistake, we will have full contact with the opposing forces, but our main goal, is for each person to come away, realizing that 90% of a soldiers life, consisted of non-combat drudgery. Sharing rations in a bunker with you kamerads in six degree weather is what I think you'll remember the most. Give us a try, see what you think and tell everybody how much you enjoyed doing something different.
Event location: Waverly, Tennessee.

Rails to Victory 2019, presents "Operation Market Garden". The Fox River Trolley Museum in South Elgin, Illinois, just West of Chicago, is once again hosting the 9th annual Rails to Victory WW2 weekend on April 26-28, 2019. RTV is a Western Front European Theater event. In keeping with the theme of "Market Garden", the bridge battle along the trolley line shall stand in the for the bridge at Nijmegen. The Allies will battle with the German Army for control of the bridge reenacting parts of the war that was fought there in September 1944. On Saturday, the Allies will capture the bridge during the trolley adventure runs, and on Sunday, there will be a single large Showcase battle for final control of the Nijmegan Bridge. American, British, Polish and German soldiers are needed for the bridge battles and other small action skirmishes on the newly named "Dolle Dinsdag Express" from Amsterdam to Cologne. RTV is a great event for reenactors to immerse the public into history by putting them on a trolley and leading them through various skirmishes, skits and battles. Period civilians and Dutch Resistance reenactors are particularly needed for the various stops along the trolley line. We are also looking for medical units to participate, particularly in Sunday's Nijmegen battle. The museum offers interesting landscapes for both reenactors and spectators along the picturesque wooded and sloping terrain along the Fox River which shall stand in for the Waal River in Holland.
We are also planning a rail yard battle in the museum's bone yard, a period WW2 bicycle ride along the Fox River, and a period WW2 Girls Baseball Home Front Game. Opportunities for historical camp presentations are also welcome by all WW2 impressions and periods. All vehicles including tracked vehicles and water-crafts are welcome to participate during the event.
