Gorlice–Tarnów Offensive - 1915
Public · Hosted by Hans Kaufmann

3 Dates · May 22, 2020 - May 24, 2020

Bardwell, Kentucky

Back ground: The Gorlice–Tarnów Offensive during World War I was initially conceived as a minor German offensive to relieve Russian pressure on the Austro-Hungarians to their south on the Eastern Front, but resulted in the Central Powers' chief offensive effort of 1915, causing the total collapse of the Russian lines and their retreat far into Russia. The continued series of actions lasted the majority of the campaigning season for 1915, starting in early May and only ending due to bad weather in October.

Actual Event: The event will be hosted at a Great War Reenacting League endorsed site on May 22nd to May 24th 2020. It will be a private tactical event that will allow Austro-Hungarian, German, and Russian reenactors to clash in a 1915 setting. It will be semi-scripted.

Flea Market: on Friday the 22nd, from 1pm-4pm, we would like to encourage people to set up for a flea market. All WW1 and victorian related items will be welcomed!

Terrell, Texas
Welcome, this is the official event page for the spring WW1 tactical in Terrell Texas. This event will run from Friday the 15th until Sunday, 17 March 2019. It will be a immersive tactical, centered around the battle at Verdun in the Spring of 1916.

Our site-

The site we are using is new and will give us a large portion of land to work with. It is a Rock quarry that has been in service since the 1970s, so use your imagination as to what it looks like. Our selected spot for the initial trench works will in encompass around 10 to 15 acres. We will have fortified positions for both Allied and Central power. Placement of initial trench works will be done so that we will have continued room to grow, as well as a substantial no man’s land.

Approved impressions-

Impressions approved for this event will be those present on the Western front during the period of 1916. The focus of the event will be around the French involvement during the battle of Verdun, but other nationalities such as Commonwealth and Belgian are allowed  to represent their respective sectors on the front. There will be plenty of trenches so no issue with multiple nationalities partaking, if this concept seems unfamiliar refer to Newville where it works.

Units-

We do ask for a minimum of three man per unit for this event. This ensures that we do not have a single or two oddball with no place to fit in. Each unit, or nationality will have their own section of trench needing the responsibility for more than a single man. If you are not part of the unit contact the event host, they will help place you in a corresponding unit. If your unit plans on attending please contact us with your unit information and current roster of those who will be attending. This is needed so that we can make proper arrangements before hand with placement on the line and facilities.

Authenticity standards

Authenticity guidelines will be handled with unit commanders, if you have any questions or concerns contact them. We are in no way stitch nazis, but we do ask that everyone puts the effort in to making the impressions as accurate as possible. Many of us have spent lots of time and money building our kits, have multiple impressions, so please give it your best effort.

New to WWI-

If you are currently building and impression and plan on coming to this event please contact the event host so that we can ensure that you were acquiring the proper items for your impression, and that you have the adequate gear for the event.

Vendors-

There are numerous vendors selling many products for World War I, some of which are approved while others are not. It is best to contact those who are involved with current units to help guide you and making the proper purchases. It’s much easier to get it right the first time than it is to come back and spend the money all over again just to make correct.

Updates-

We will add to this page over the coming weeks and months with details regarding the event, if you have any questions or concerns do not hesitate to contact either myself or John Lawrence.

41  Events List: North American Theater of Operations / 8th Service Command / Re: 15-17 February 2019, Crossing the Moselle - The Battle of Metz, Waxahachie, TX on: January 12, 2019, 09:22:22 PM
A high quality, campaigner style, immersion tactical event taking place in February of 2019. The overarching theme is the fighting in the Alsace-Lorraine region south of the city of Metz, where the 5th Infantry Division of Patton's Third Army fought tooth and nail with the 17th SS Panzergrenadier division 'Gotz Von Berlichingen' in the fall of 1944.

Throw out all preconceived notions you have of tactical events as it is - this is not what you are expecting.

This is not the typical 9am-2pm and call it quits tactical

This event seeks to immerse participants in the drudgery of the fighting on the outskirts of Metz in November of 1944. There is no win-or-lose scenario in this event - you will live and fight for mere meters in the cold forests along the Moselle River. Communications lines, full medical system, regular supply runs, all centered along an active frontline throughout the weekend. You will participate in the so-called mundane aspects of soldier's duties during their daily lives on the front and 'enjoy the suck' of being in a cold, wet, and miserable place far from home. In tandem, the event seeks to provide exciting and historically versed combat scenarios.

In true campaigner style, there will be no impressions allowed that were not historically involved in the setting we are emulating.

For Germans
- 17th SS GVB - Panzergrenadier Regiment 38th
 - 21st Panzer Division - 125th Panzergrenadier regiment

For GIs - 5th Infantry Division,11th infantry regiment,

As previously elaborated the event is for those truly dedicated to creating an authentic atmosphere. That means no scheduled lunch breaks, modern coolers, folding chairs, heaters, modern tents, and ect.

Those who refuse to abide by authenticity standards, simply will not be allowed into the event.
